Alina Habba News
Moments prior to his arrest, Trump’s idiotic attorney undermines his case. The entirety of Trump’s defense against the allegations from January 6 was disproven by Alina Habba.
Donald Trump’s attorney was busy outside the courthouse on Thursday as Trump entered to face charges for allegedly trying to rig the 2020 election. This undermined the entirety of Trump’s defense.
Trump was accused of seeking to rig the 2020 presidential election on Tuesday. He is accused of conspiring to defraud the United States, corruptly impede an official proceeding, obstruct and attempt to obstruct an official proceeding and conspire against the right to vote. These four counts are among the four he is charged with. It is argued that while knowing he had lost the election, Trump actively pursued having the results overturned, which is the basis of his record-breaking third indictment.
In light of this, Trump’s legal team should contend that the president truly was unaware of his defeat. Trump’s attorney, though, made the exact opposite case.
Alina Habba told reporters, “I think that everyone was made aware that he lost the election, but it doesn’t mean that that was the only counsel he was given. “There are many advisers, politicians, and lawyers giving you advice and telling you what they think is true, not just one or two,”
Everybody has the right to consider other points of view before making a choice, even the president.
In other words, Habba acknowledged what the indictment claimed: He had received numerous warnings not to do this.
Furthermore, the issue is not the number of advisers Trump had present. He can just claim that the election was rigged, as can anyone else. The First Amendment in theory protects that. The issue is that he urged others to follow suit by encouraging them to act on those comments even though he knew better (this would be the “conspiracy” part of the charges against him).
The rest of Habba’s justifications for Trump weren’t much more persuasive. At one point, she questioned, “What is it that he did to try and switch the votes?” “By filing lawsuits, by properly applying the law?”
“President Trump said, ‘Go patriotically and peacefully, and demonstrate.’ An American’s right to do it.
Habba appears to have forgotten that Trump was overheard on tape pleading with Brad Raffensperger, the secretary of state for Georgia, to “find” thousands of ballots. In addition, Trump assured his fans that January 6 “will be wild” and exhorted them to “fight like hell,” which does not exactly sound calm (but perhaps she is paraphrasing).
Surprisingly, a member of Trump’s legal staff has previously decided that the best course of action is to simply confess all of the charges against him. John Lauro unequivocally affirmed on Tuesday that Trump had attempted to deploy phoney electors and had put pressure on Mike Pence to postpone certifying the votes, both of which are against the law.
