According to a statement made on Wednesday by Vice Chancellor for Intercollegiate Athletics Keith Carter, Ole Miss has strengthened its athletics administration by hiring Allen Greene, a former athletics director at Auburn and Buffalo, as its new Senior Deputy Athletics Director/External Relations and Business Development.
Greene, who served as Carter’s coworker and assistant athletic director for development at the Ole Miss Athletics Foundation from 2009 to 2012, is back in Oxford. In his new position, Greene will manage the department’s external operations, serve as the chief operating officer of the Rebels, and continue to oversee the football program’s sporting activities.
Carter said, “We are beyond thrilled to have Allen’s leadership join our team. “Recalling our time spent together at OMAF, I can attest to the kind of person and leader Allen is. He has all the qualities you desire in your administration. His vast knowledge will benefit our department, and we are excited to welcome his family back to Oxford.”
Simply put, our experience at Ole Miss was extremely fulfilling, and Greene expressed his excitement at the prospect of working with Keith again. “People around me are aware of my preoccupation with wanting others to succeed, and I look forward to working with Chancellor Boyce, university administration, athletic department staff/coaches, student-athletes, and fans!”
Before resigning in August, Greene served as Auburn’s 15th director of athletics for five seasons. He is regarded as a dynamic and vivacious leader. Eight conference titles and 44 programmes finishing in the top 25 nationally, including 17 teams in the top 10, were achieved by the Tigers during his tenure as coach. The men’s and women’s golf teams each made it to the national semifinals a total of three times, and the AU equestrian programme won two national titles.
Six Auburn teams placed in the top 10 in 2021–22, with the gymnastics team’s fourth-place finish being their best-ever performance. Men’s basketball achieved their first-ever No. 1 national ranking before coming in ninth, and the Tiger baseball team reached its second appearance in the College World Series in the past three postseasons.
The $92 million, 233,000 square foot Football Performance Center was built during Greene’s time at Auburn, part of a $175 million investment in capital infrastructure. The new building, which was the greatest capital undertaking in Auburn Athletics history, featured two of the four largest single donations in the history of the programme.
