Allison Jaslow’s Latest News

Allison Jaslow, a really well figure in the veteran’s movement, has been named the third CEO of Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America (IAVA), making her the first woman to hold that position. Also, she will be the first openly homosexual veteran to be in the leadership of a leading veterans organisation in the nation.

Jaslow, an Iraq War veteran, recently joined the IAVA Board of Directors after serving as the organization’s Executive Director while Paul Rieckhoff was CEO. He adds more than ten years of senior-level competence to the institution. Jaslow will resume serving as CEO on March 15, but she will be on Capitol Hill this week as IAVA members arrive in the nation’s capital to campaign for the Post-9/11 generation of veterans.

After a thorough nationwide search, the Board of Directors unanimously chose Jaslow as CEO. In addition to his duties as a former IAVA leader, Jaslow has also held successful positions as a congressional campaign manager, chief of staff to a member of Congress, and a political and communications strategist. She is a former Army officer who was awarded the Bronze Star for her accomplishments during the war. She is also a charter member of the National Parks Conservation Association’s Veterans Council and a term member of the Council on Foreign Relations. Most recently, she worked as an adjunct professor of procedure at Duke Faculty’s Sanford School of Public Policy.
