Andres Gimenez News

Over the previous two and a half seasons, Amed Rosario has served as the Cleveland Guardians’ reliable two-hole hitter. He was a streaky hitter who chased many pitches, but when he got hot, he could be effective.

After Cleveland traded Rosraio to the Los Angeles Dodgers last week, the Guardians needed someone to step up and assume this position. Andres Gimenez appeared to be the ideal choice. He can make excellent contact with the ball and sees a lot of pitches. Earlier in the season, even with Rosario still on the roster, fans pushed Terry Francona to hit him second. Gimenez is now in this position for us, and, well, it hasn’t been fantastic.

Since Rosario was traded, there have been five games, and Andres has hit second in all of them. In those few games, Gimenez has made 23 plate appearances and has a slash line of.100/.217/.150. Despite the fact that he has only had two hits, there is still another worrying aspect. Gimenez has a 39.1 percent strikeout rate and an 8.7 percent walk rate. The batting average of the balls he has been able to place on the plate is only.182.

Gimenez merits more time to demonstrate that he can be a successful two-hole bat because this is an extraordinarily limited sample size to go off of. If these difficulties persist, it wouldn’t be unexpected to see Tyler Freeman or Will Brennan have a chance.
