Steven Grant and Marc Spector encounter a gigantic hippopotamus in the latter moments of Moon Knight, Episode 4 of the Marvel Studios film series. She introduces herself as the Egyptian deity Taweret and tells Steve and Marc, who are perplexed, that she is there to assist them in getting through the Duat and to the Field of Reeds, provided their hearts were balanced on the scales against the feather of Maat by the end of the voyage.
Taweret is therefore Steven and Marc’s sole ally and guide as they embark on a voyage of self-discovery and uncover traumatic previous experiences. Taweret might be the only happy, sunny place for the two (and viewers) given how dark Episode 5 is.
Although the character has been gently hinted throughout the entire series, even as far back as Episode 1, getting her physically into the programme was Jeremy Slater’s goal as the chief writer and executive producer. He was motivated to bring the hippo to life after spending a full week gazing at a poster of the deity in the writers’ room. It only made sense to kill off Marc and Steven given that she is the goddess of women and children who led travellers through the Duat.
According to Slater, “Once I locked in that I needed that hippo in the show, then we knew that meant there’s probably some sort of journey to the Egyptian underworld,” he says in an interview with Marvel.com. We got our major backstory episode from that.
performance for motion capture as well. She was aware that she was applying for a role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but she had no concept that she was entering the realm of the Moon Knight, let alone stepping into Taweret’s enormous shoes.
“[The guy] fell completely off the rails. She says Marvel.com, “I knew I was going to an audition for Marvel Studios and I knew it was for a lead – an Egyptian woman. They sort of gave me a phoney name and used a mock script, I guess. Only when I was about to meet the director and the casting crew did they casually disclose that I would be playing a CGI hippo. ‘OK, sounds wonderful, let’s do it,’ I said.
Meanwhile, Silver appeared on ESPN and declared that the footage, despite its fuzziness, had “shocked” him. When Morant raised the gun into the camera frame, his companion and he were singing along to a rap song while riding in the front seat of a car.
He has now been suspended indefinitely by the Memphis Grizzlies, so nothing would have changed in the upcoming weeks anyhow, Silver said. “Given that we’re of course in the offseason,” Silver added. It seemed best to put it on hold, at least for any public release, and my current impression is that we will make the investigation’s findings public soon after the Finals are over.
