Charlotte Owen Career
Before serving as a constituency intern for Conservative MP William Wragg for one month, she worked as an intern at the strategic communications firm Portland. Before becoming a seven-month parliamentary assistant to Alok Sharma, Owen spent six months working as a parliamentary intern for Boris Johnson. After that, Owen worked for Jake Berry and Johnson for twenty-one months as a senior parliamentary assistant before focusing completely on Johnson for a year and a half.
Later, she was hired as a special adviser by Johnson’s Number 10 Policy Unit. She was reappointed to this position in September 2022, following the establishment of the Truss ministry. Owen was made a life peer in June 2023 when Johnson’s 2022 resignation honors list was made public. The choice infuriated some people. It was thought that Owen lacked experience and had made little contribution to British politics or society.
