Damien Hardwick News
After Damien Hardwick’s shocking resignation from his position as Richmond’s AFL coach, his ex-wife made a heartbreaking disclosure.
Danielle, Hardwick’s ex-girlfriend, was first noted as being conspicuously absent from the experienced coach’s emotional news conference on Tuesday, where he stated he is leaving the sport to take a sabbatical, according to News Corp.
When talking about the support he had from his family over the course of his 13 years with the football club, the three-time premiership coach temporarily broke down and had to gather himself.
However, it has since come to light that Hardwick’s private life is still complicated as Danielle chose not to attend the significant event while Hardwick’s girlfriend Alexandra Crow, a former employee of Richmond, was seated in the first row.
The three kids of the former couple, Ben, Isabelle, and Imogen, as well as Hardwick’s mother Pam, were sitting in the first row.
Hardwick singled out Danielle as one of the people to thank. I’m forever grateful for what you’ve done for me, the support you’ve given me, Danielle and the kids, I added.
And Alex, thanks for the new adventure; your support over the past few months has undoubtedly been incredible. While watching the news conference from the front row, Crow was captured on camera grinning.
Having recently thought back on her ex-partner’s professional life, Danielle told The Herald Sun: “A rough 48 hours. a lifelong commitment to both D and football. wasn’t intended to come to this.
The couple’s marriage fell apart in 2020, just as the Covid-19 outbreak was causing havoc in the AFL. Players and officials were compelled to relocate for a prolonged length of time to a hub in Queensland. Danielle had been by her husband’s side during an exceptionally successful football career that had included premierships as a player with Essendon and Port Adelaide — as well as four flags as coach of Richmond. She was frequently referred to by the Tigers coach as “Mrs. Hardwick” in news conferences.
Brendon Gale, CEO of Richmond, stated at the time that although the breakup was “extremely personal, private, and sensitive,” it had been handled behind closed doors.
When Hardwick was playing for Essendon in the 1990s, he met Danielle. She relocated to Adelaide with him and his children before the 2002 season began after he was forced away due to the Bombers’ wage cap pressures, despite having never been there.
