These caverns have been noted by the Archaeology Department, and James Varghese’s book “Archaeological Survey of India” also makes reference to the Dharashiv caves.

Dharasur began tormenting individuals after receiving the boon. Goddess Saraswati then murdered Dharasur. Because of this, Saraswati is also known as “Dharasurmardini.” According to legend, the village was given the name Dharashiv in his honour.
