Elkie Brooks, an English singer-songwriter, was born Elaine Bookbinder on January 28, 1945. As the lead singer of the blues rock band Vinegar Joe in the 1970s, she became well-known. Following the dissolution of the band in 1974, Brooks launched a lucrative solo career. She has had a number of hit singles, including “Pearl’s a Singer,” “No More the Fool,” and “Sunshine After the Rain.” She has also recorded 16 studio albums.
