Equal Standard Movie Wikipedia, Cast, Review, IMDB, Rating – In the crime thriller film “Equal Standard,” Black NYPD Detective Chris Jones and his teammates are set in a mostly black neighborhood. Chris calls for police officers to be held accountable after a White police officer killed an unarmed Black man. Two White officers approach Chris and his companion in an offensive manner one night while both are off-duty, demanding to see their identification. Chris identifies as a police investigator, but the situation worsens without his explanations, and one of the White officers shoots at Chris. Chris returns fire in self-defense, raising the level of hostility in the neighborhood. While a group of racist White men shooting Black men, rival gang bosses agree to a truce to stop the violence.
Equal Standard Story
In 2020, the crime drama movie “Equal Standard” came out. In the film, Ice-character, T’s John Bookman, an NYPD officer, is assigned with looking into the shooting of an unarmed Black man by many police officers. As Bookman investigates the matter further, he finds that the victim was actually an undercover cop trying to expose departmental corruption.
In order to bring the responsible ones to justice as tensions between the police force and the community increase, Bookman must navigate a complicated web of lies, cover-ups, and betrayal. He is compelled to confront both his own views and the systemic racism that infects the legal system along the way.
Some of the protagonists’ private lives are also explored in the film, including Bookman’s wife (Sharon Leal) and a young Black man named Tyquan (Jules Willcox), who gets involved in the investigation. The film “Equal Standard” is a provocative reflection on racial justice, law enforcement, and society.
