Jaym Pakshitap aka JP, a business magnate and head of “JP Orbit”, is known for ruthlessly taking over companies. He sets his sights on Nanda Gopal Chakraborty’s “People Mart” and decides to present it as a birthday present to his son Atharva Pakshitap. However, JP faces problems with Nand Gopal’s son Anand Chakraborty, who is also the upcoming CEO of the company. He decides to overthrow him and take over the company.
Meanwhile, Swamy is a street-smart jobless man and has a lookalike Anand, who lives with his family which includes his father Vasudev Rao, mother Yashoda and younger sister Subbu. He tries unsuccessfully to find work and is burdened by Subbu’s impending marriage. Pranavi is Subbu’s friend, who meets Swami while planning Subbu’s wedding. They get attracted towards each other. However, Pranavi’s father and Chakravarthy’s friend, Ramesh Reddy arrange a marriage alliance with Anand instead. Initially, Pranvi is confused seeing Anand; Will chooses Swamy over Anand and ultimately declines the offer, trigger Ramesh to send goons to kill Swamy.
Meanwhile, Atharv and his goons surround Anand to kill him. Pranavi calls Swami for help but later learns that Anand and Swami are one and the same person. Swamy beats up both Ramesh and Atharv’s goons, but one of them shoots him and he is presumed dead. However, Swami escapes and fakes his death. Pranvi asks him about living as double people. Swamy reveals that he met Chakravarthy as a child when he and Vasudev went missing at the local fair, and Chakravarthy tries to trace Swamy’s parents. However, he adopted him as his son instead. After 4 years, Swami’s parents come looking for him and Chakravarthy hesitates to send him back with them. Thus, to keep both families happy, he assumed a double identity.
Meanwhile, JP, who is under the impression that Anand is dead, asks Swami to act as Anand and give company stock to the entire class. A sequence of comical incidents ensues where Swami arranges Subbu’s marriage and the employees manage to fool both JP and Atharva each time. However, JP discovers Swamy’s dual personality and tries to kill Chakravyuh, but Swamy saves him. He also scolds Vasudev and beats up both JP and Atharva. Chakra is said to have been behind Swamy’s assassination attempt as well as his nephew Chakra, as Swamy had become an obstacle to his becoming the next CEO.
Vikram has to fulfill Chakraborty’s wish to become the CEO, upon which Vikram realizes his mistake and apologizes to Swami and his family. Vikram became the CEO, Swami, and Pranavi get married, and both families live a normal and happy life.

Ravi Teja as Swamy and does the job with ease. He has played this role many times in his career and pulls off the performance with ease. He gives a balanced performance similar to Aanand Chakraborty and completely carries the film on his shoulders. Sreeleela is a revelation in this film and easily matches Ravi Teja’s energy.
Though she doesn’t have much scope to perform in the role, she shines in all her scenes and is definitely a star. The extended cast of Tanikella Bharani, Jayaram, Sachin Khedkar and Tulsi are dependable as ever and breeze through their characters.
One of the biggest weaknesses of Dhamaka is the hanging of Trinadha Rao Nakkina. While the basic premise of the film is corporate vs generic, it tries too hard to make it unique and this is where the film fails. Thoughtful decisions have been taken to make the film different from the regular commercial film and this is where people might feel disconnected. The predictability of the plot and the lack of surprises with the twists and turns are the other major drawbacks of this mass entertainer.
