Irene Aldana News
Aldana addressed the fight in her first remark after suffering a lopsided decision loss to Amanda Nunes at UFC 289 after officials insisted she go to a local Vancouver hospital for a checkup following the event. Aldana doesn’t seem to have had any serious injuries other than the disappointment of failing in her first attempt to win the UFC championship.
Aldana stated on Instagram that it was an honour to compete against Amanda Nunes. Amazing warrior and athlete (GOAT).
“I’m sorry I let my coaches and you all down. I can tell you that things will not remain as they are. Even if it was a bad night, the fourth belt remains the aim and the target. I made you a promise, and I’ll keep it no matter what.
Aldana entered the battle as a significant underdog, but she gained popularity in the days preceding up to UFC 289, especially since Nunes said she had previously thought about quitting the sport before her most recent victory over Julianna Pena.
Nunes put up a five-round masterpiece to defend her championship for the final time on Saturday, even though she ultimately made the decision to hang up her gloves and finish her career.
Aldana received repeated criticism for her inactivity from the UFC TV crew calling the fight. Aldana survived from the first second of the battle to the very end, but she was out-punched by Nunes by almost a 4-to-1 ratio (196 to 57), gave up six takedowns, and only had 10 seconds of control time.
Aldana claims she already knows what went wrong and is planning on fixing it after the loss.
