James Trusty News

In an effort to defend his client, who is really being investigated for obstruction of justice, one of former President Donald Trump’s countless attorneys tried to paint President Joe Biden’s controversy over the sensitive materials as an obstruction case.

Attorney James Trusty criticised presenter Chuck Todd on Sunday’s episode of NBC’s Meet The Press for promoting the “Democratic narrative” that Trump had disobeyed a demand to turn over sensitive papers stored at Mar-a-Lago, leading to an FBI raid. Trusty asserted that Biden’s case presented the genuine “set of facts” indicating obstruction because Biden shouldn’t have had access to the records in the first place.

“This Chinese-funded Penn Biden Center houses documents from decades that belong to your vice president, right?” Reliable said. (The Penn Biden Center said it received no Chinese funds.) “You’ve got total obstruction there,” I said.

Trusty was unable to distinguish between the varying degrees of transparency in Biden’s and Trump’s scenarios. Biden’s counsel claim they quickly alerted the National Archives and Records Administration upon finding the records at the Penn Biden Center in November, which notified the Department of Justice. They claimed that each succeeding batch of documents was turned over and resulted in a government notification.

Meanwhile, despite his lawyer’s assurances to NARA that Trump had turned everything over, it is claimed that he still retained numerous boxes of various sensitive documents at his Florida residence.

Todd attempted to coax a concession from Trusty using that knowledge. When he found them, did he proceed to turn them over? Todd questioned a frantic Trusty, who appeared to just have talking points to provide. To know the specifics of how things were passed over, he said, “We don’t have the leaks coming from [Biden special counsel] Rob Hur’s investigation.”

Is your justification that we should breach the law because we believe others have done so? Tod enquired. “I mean, that just doesn’t seem to be a good defense,” I said.

Trusty changed the subject once more, asserting that Trump was being unfairly “discriminated against” despite the fact that his accused actions were radically different from those of other politicians dealing with their own document crises.
