Sir David Jason encountered his actor daughter numerous times without being aware of their familial connection. It happens after The Mirror reported that Sir David learned he shared a daughter, age 52, with Jennifer Hill. Since he first met Abi Harris, the two have met up multiple times and have spent a portion of the holiday season together.
However, the father and daughter have crossed paths several times through mutual friends… but he had no idea they were related. Geoffrey Davion, a movie star who starred in The Stars Look Down and Miss Marple was married to Jennifer. Up until his death in 1996, Abi thought he was her father.
Sir David and Jennifer, who had previously worked together on Under Milk Wood and in the James Bond movie Octopussy and Doctor Who were reunited in 2008 for a new version of the picture. But, it took Abi another five years before she began to wonder if Sir David might not be her biological father.
Abi and Sir David were standing next to one another on an occasion when she discovered they had identical side features. Her desire to take action was sparked by witnessing 10-year-old Charlie, her son and David’s grandson, mature. Abi bravely decided to write Sir David a letter asking him to do a paternity test.
When the test came back positive, the family met up at the Landmark Hotel in Marylebone, Central London, to explore how to connect. Says Abi “I’m beginning to put my own identity together as I learn who my father is. “Of course, I’m overjoyed and extremely pleased, but I’m also constantly overcome with grief over the years we’ve lost.
After a cautious beginning, I now hope that we can intentionally schedule more time to spend together, so that I may perfect the skill of being the best big sister and create a meaningful father-daughter relationship in the truest sense.
