Anthony Joshua knew he had to make a statement going into the bout because many were expecting the kind of ‘AJ’ knockout that made him a household name in boxing. It was evident that the Texan wanted Joshua to use his deadly right hand by probing Franklin with the jab in the opening round while being observed by new trainer Derrick James.
