Jimmy Keene News

A young football star who got into trouble with the law has spoken out about the horrifying time he encountered a vicious serial killer as part of a risky, top-secret covert operation that prevented the deaths of countless others.

In the acclaimed Apple TV+ true crime series Black Bird, which features stars like Taron Edgerton, Greg Kinnear, Ray Liotta in one of his final roles, and Paul Walter Hauser, who won the Golden Globe for Best Supporting Actor – Television Limited Series/Motion Picture for his work in Black Bird, James “Jimmy” Keene’s extraordinary life story is told.

Being the oldest of four children growing up in the south side of Chicago, Keene experienced a difficult upbringing because his parent’s divorce when he was ten years old left the young family dependent on his mother’s part-time waitressing income. Money was scarce for many years as a result of his father’s subsequent remarriage and the birth of a second family.

In addition to being from the south side of Chicago, which had the worst crime rate in the country during that time period and the highest unemployment rate in the state when he was growing up, Keene said of his early years, “We were dirt poor at that point.

“We were in the dark. Although I had a decent appearance, that doesn’t actually grant me any advantages.

When Keene was 17, he decided not to accept scholarships to colleges in other states and instead stayed in the Chicago area to attend a junior college while continuing to play football and wrestle and run his business. Keene eventually got involved in the marijuana business and by the time he was 17 was making serious money.

“Why would I leave the business when I could just go to college here in Chicago and create my career? It wasn’t even a conscious thought at that age.”?” he added. I finally made much more than a million dollars a year, and I was making half a million.
