A Holocaust survivor who endured six concentration camps, including Auschwitz, has revealed a horrifying incident in which a Jewish man was murdered just because a Nazi found him to be too “handsome” to bear. 96-year-old Josef Lewkowicz exposed the crimes done by Amon Goeth, also known as the Butcher of Paszów, who he subsequently pursued and confronted after being set free.
The Austrian Nazi officer was eventually located at Dachau detention camp after the war, where he had been hiding out under a false name.
The author, who was born in Poland, opened up on Good Morning Britain about just one terrifying instance of the villain, who was portrayed by Ralph Fiennes in the 1993 movie Schindler’s List, and his ‘crazy’ mentality. We shivered as he passed through the camps because we had no idea what this madman would do.
The horrifying monster once shot the man in front of him simply for saying that he “cannot take a Jew so handsome looking.” Josef describes how the man who had harassed him for years was apprehended in his new book, The Survivor, after he offered his skills to the United Nations Relief and Rehabilitation Administration.
He admitted to Susanna Reid and Ed Balls that when he first saw Goeth in Dachau in 1946, who appeared to be “a beggar,” his blood “boiled.” Josef has received criticism for his brutality from American intelligence, but he doesn’t feel bad about it.

When Josef was only 14 years old, he was given his first task at the Polish concentration camp at Paszów, which involved shoving human remains into a wheelbarrow. It was the beginning of three years of hardship that included being sent as a teenager to five different detention camps.
He witnessed famished inmates butchering each other at that time, when the Nazis murdered all 150 members of his family. Josef once described how the situation in the Austrian detention camp Ebensee grew intolerable as he observed starved people roasting the body of a dead Russian boy.
‘A young Russian lad died, and a handful of the Russian people went and cut off his whole behind, and lit a fire with branches and dry wood, and cooked human flesh, and ate it,’ he told The Sun in 2019.
