Jovanie Santiago News

Mario Barrios makes it plain he’s going to put things right as he gets ready to return to the ring this weekend to battle Jovanie Santiago on Showtime’s undercard of Rey Vargas vs. O’Shaquie Foster. As he gets to fight in his hometown of San Antonio, Barrios (26-2, 17 KOs), who is currently coming off back-to-back defeats to Gervonta Davis and Keith Thurman, will hope to benefit from some crowd support.

Barrios declared, “I always look forward to entertaining my home crowd in a fight. “I adore my hometown, and I’m always honoured to enter the ring as a representative of San Antonio. I’m grateful for the chance to compete once more in front of the San Antonio supporters.

Barrios has been working hard in the gym to make sure he is operating at full capacity as he looks forward to providing the action on fight night.

Barrios declared, “I’ve moved my training base to Las Vegas, Nevada, and I’m back working with Bob Santos. It was good to give my mind and body a break after two demanding camps back-to-back, especially after a brief hiatus following some pretty huge battles. Because I’ll be training in the world’s fight capital, I believe the change will advance my career over the coming several years.

The Pound4pound boxing club out here has been pushing me every day, despite the fact that I believe many boxers lose motivation after competing on pay-per-view. I am delighted with how the camp has gone, and I believe that come fight night, everyone will see what I have been working on. Additionally, I have Selina, my sister, on my side. We co-founded this sport, and I appreciate that she continues to offer advice. Before this battle, everything went perfectly.

Jovanie Santiago (14-2-1, 10 KOs), who many believed defeated Adrien Broner in their previous encounter despite what the official scorecards stated, will be Barrios’ opponent in this fight. Barrios admits that ignoring Santiago has previously caused issues, therefore he won’t do so in this situation.

“I believe he is a skilled fighter. Many believe he ought to have won his battle against Adrien Broner since it was close,” Barrios remarked. “I thought Gary Antuanne Russell was a challenge for him, but Gary is a great fighter,” I said. Santiago, in my opinion, is a man who may make you seem awful if you treat him lightly. I don’t mean to disparage him in any way, but I’m going to explain why I’ve appeared in two pay-per-view main events and why I once won the world title. My goal in this fight is to end my hiatus and demonstrate that I can compete in this division on a different level and pose a threat. In this fight, I believe you will clearly understand the difference between us.
