Shaunie and Keion Henderson exchanged vows in May 2022 on the lovely island of Anguilla. With a three-part wedding special running up to their special day, the couple is now welcoming viewers on their trip to the altar.
Shaunie describes the impetus for making Shaunie & Keion’s Destination “I Do” as “We got married in Anguilla, and of course, everybody wasn’t able to be there.” “It provided a means for us to connect with so many people who couldn’t be there in person and experience our journey. It was incredible that we were able to complete it without a script or concept.
Although Pastor Keion was reluctant to exchange vows in front of the camera at first, they ultimately decided that it was the best way to celebrate their union with their loved ones, particularly their church’s more than 15,000 attendees.
Keion says, “I had so many people that wanted to come—the entire church felt like they should be invited,” adding that his goal was to marry the love of his life in front of their immediate family and friends in order to avoid disappointing a lengthy list of prospective visitors. “We chose a location because it fits our rhythm and the beat of our soul. Amazing folks live in Anguilla! We glanced at each other and the location for a few hours.
It’s really a community of people who love that island so much that they appreciate people visiting and experiencing it, continues Shaunie. You simply merge into this clan. Your family—and they make you feel that way—is there with you from the airport to the resort. It serves as a second home.
In front of 300 guests, the executive producer of Basketball Wives and the senior pastor of The Lighthouse Church & Ministries were married on May 28 at the Aurora Anguilla Resort and Golf Club.
The newlyweds concur that the best part of their weekend in paradise was spending time with their kids, even if their wedding was undoubtedly a joyous milestone in their lives.
Shaunie chuckles, “Our kids, nieces and nephews had more fun than anyone over thirty,” and Keion concurs. “Everyone says I want to hang out with the kids if you guys do this again. We thought we were having a fantastic time, but then we saw videos and photographs of them having a good time, and we were like, “We didn’t get to do that!'”
