Kristina Karamo News

The new chair of the state GOP party did not apologise when the Michigan Republican Party received harsh criticism for utilising Holocaust imagery on social media to oppose what it claims are Democrats’ restricted gun measures; instead, she doubled down on the party’s statement.

The first Black chair of the Michigan GOP, Kristina Karamo, defended the connection by writing on Twitter that “government abuse of citizens has not only happened in world history, but American history.” “The Democratic Party, which fought to enslave Black Americans and is today fighting to murder unborn children, is attempting to disarm us, but we will not stay silent. Our 2nd Amendment was established to defend us from would-be autocrats.

A CNN KFile assessment of Karamo’s remarks, the most of which were made over the last few years, revealed that this was not the first time she has advocated divisive and occasionally odd statements. In fact, there are nearly too many of them to recount in their entirety.

In the past, Karamo has made claims such as BeyoncĂ© was secretly converting Black Americans to Paganism with a new album, “demonic possession is real” and spread through “intimate relationships,” and that tolerating homosexual and transgender Americans will result in tolerating paedophilia.

She has claimed that drug use is “witchcraft,” that the Black Lives Matter movement’s leaders are “Marxist witches,” and that the notion of evolution is “one of the biggest scams ran on us in human history.” She has drawn parallels between pagan child sacrifice and abortion.

In the past, Karamo has also likened the media to Nazi Germany, claiming that media hyperbole regarding Republicans will result in their roundup, execution, and internment in concentration camps.

An outspoken opponent of vaccinations, Karamo has stated that she does not support them and will not vaccinate her children. She has only received one vaccination herself.

The Michigan Republicans elected Karamo, who made these remarks and numerous others in the last few years, as their new state party chairwoman and the first Black person to lead the state party after losing every statewide office and total control of the state government for the first time in nearly 40 years.

The Michigan Secretary of State contest in 2022 was lost by Karamo by a margin of 14 percentage points, making it the most lopsided defeat of any statewide candidate in the previous election. Karamo, an election sceptic who thinks the 2020 presidential election was rigged, has also refused to surrender the race.
