Kunal Trehan News

Through his Manchester-based interior design firm Touched Interiors, Kunal Trehan has established a global reputation as a creator of ultra-luxurious interiors for the most discerning customers in the world. Demanding not in the painful sense, but in the sense of having the highest standards.

The very wealthy have their own methods of operation, so managing their expectations requires both talent and the unwavering capacity to deliver exactly what is promised, when it is promised for. This is why Kunal’s participation in the most recent episode of the BBC’s interior design programme Virtually Home surprised and did not surprise those who know him.

I must admit that I was first hesitant when the BBC first approached me about participating in Virtually Home in the early spring of 2021. I had to give it some serious thought. I have a reputation for working on extremely high-end projects, which requires a certain amount of funding.

The BBC provided more accessible budgets, but to me, design is design regardless of the amount of money spent, and this programme is about inspiring people. I believe I am at a point in my career where I simply have so many tips, tricks, and trade secrets I’ve developed; therefore, I thought it would be so nice to share that.

The programme’s basic premise is around two individuals seeking to reconcile divergent design preferences in order to remodel a specific room in their house. One of four interior designers meets with fifteen different couples—spouses, partners, parents, and kids—to examine their frequently diametrically opposed design aspirations.

The designer comes up with two options, and both are given to the homeowners utilising cutting-edge virtual reality. Instead of using the goggles, we’re most accustomed to, the designs are projected using light technology, giving the homeowners the chance to see how the ideas might function in their own homes. Without actually opening a paint can, it’s as near to doing it as you can get.
