At the time of the assault, the 21-year-old senior was apparently on the phone with her mother, Jill McCluskey. “I hear her scream, “No, no, no!” at once. In a statement posted to Twitter, Jill said. “I believed she may have been involved in an automobile accident.”
The alleged murderer is Melvin Rowland, 37, according to the press statement, but the police investigation is still ongoing. According to The Salt Lake Tribune, authorities think that McCluskey and Rowland had a “previous relationship” that may have been the cause of the attack. He is accused of shooting and killing her before running away and starting a manhunt. According to Utah Police Chief Dale Brophy, Lauren’s mother was partly to blame for her demise.

Although Lauren McCluskey hadn’t yet gotten hitched, she had previously been involved with Melvin Rowland. But Her friend revealed Melvin’s past to her, ending their relationship. Also, her mother misled Lauren McCluskey regarding the multiple sexual allegations against Rowland. There is hardly any time spent as a pair.

Lauren asked the University of Utah police to accompany her on October 10 to return the car that Rowland had taken from her before their breakup. She reported being harassed by the University of Utah police and blocked his and his buddies’ phone numbers.
The day in question, Monday, October 22, 2018, just before nine o’clock, according to her mother, Jill spoke to her. She was on the phone with the mother as she made her way back to her university flat after her evening lesson. She abruptly heard her scream, “No, no, no!” Jill initially believed she might have been in a vehicle accident. The mother didn’t hear from her again after that. After calling 911, the family later found out that their daughter had been shot.

At the University of Utah, Lauren was a standout student-athlete until, on October 22, 2018, her ex-boyfriend killed her outside of her dorm. Lauren repeatedly reported threats to the Salt Lake City police as well as the school police. The system, however, failed her.

On October 1, 1994, Laura Kucera was kidnapped in Wakefield, Nebraska, and held against her will. She was shot once in the shoulder and twice in the back of her head. Brian Anderson, Laura’s ex-boyfriend, abandoned her for dead. Later, Brian changed his mind and pointed the police to the murder scene.
