Leanne Morgan News
Leanne Morgan claims to be the “Mrs. Maisel of Appalachia,” and she reveals that males used to remark that “women aren’t funny.” Leanne Morgan has been entertaining her audience with everyday humor for 22 years. The comic is now disclosing how she first entered the comedy business.
Since she began her career as a professional comedian more than 20 years ago, Leanne Morgan has amused audiences with her sharp wit and hilarious observations on her life. The comic admits that it hasn’t always been easy; in the 1990s, she was a typical housewife before rising to become one of the most recognizable figures in the business today.
Leanne Morgan talks candidly about her experience
Leanne Morgan said to WJCT that her career in comedy began unexpectedly when she made a woman at a party laugh so hard that she “peeped on the couch,” giving her the idea that she could succeed in stand-up comedy. She initially tried to generate some additional money by selling jewelry at the homes of her friends but unwittingly made them laugh by telling them jokes about breastfeeding and hemorrhoids.
She eventually started doing stand-up in clubs and got offers for sitcom agreements, which sadly didn’t work out. On the verge of quitting in 2018, she made one last effort and recruited social media consultants who helped a video of her and her husband making jokes about attending a Def Leppard/Journey concert go viral, turning her comedy career around.
“That blew up, and I started selling out all over the United States,” she reportedly told WJCT. After watching those videos, people would start phoning comedy clubs to request my booking.
The comic acknowledged that it took a while for her to develop a following. But I always knew they were out there, she said. Hollywood, in my opinion, ignores us, and I believe that many comedians who are cool, edgy, and all of that just ignore my audience, which I believe to be the best.
Mrs. Maisel of Appalachia is referred to by Leanne Morgan.
The 53-year-old acknowledged that “Comedy is hard…. It’s a hard business.” The star of Marvellous Mrs. Maisel, Midge, struck a chord with the comedian. I related to her persona because she was bold, had those children, and had a ding dong for a spouse, the woman remarked. Although her husband is not a “ding dong,” Morgan made it clear that she had to face various kinds of obstacles.
According to the comic, “men would say, ‘Oh, women aren’t funny,’ and all that kind of stuff, and they would try to sabotage her.” She said, “I’ve been through all that.”
In the meanwhile, Morgan said, “I do find humor in difficult situations, but I think many comedians do. That is how we manage.
