In this storyboard, Lucille Butterworth, who vanished in 1969, is remembered.
On August 25, 1969, 20-year-old Lucille Butterworth was last seen by her mother. After a long day at the neighborhood radio station, Lucille agreed to be driven to the bus stop by a coworker.
Ten minutes after Miss Butterworth’s friend drove away, the bus to New Norfolk arrived, but Miss Butterworth had already left and the bus stop was empty. Lucille is thought to have encountered mischief while traveling to a Miss Tasmania fundraising event in New Norfolk.
Geoffrey Hunt had strangled Ms. Butterworth, according to a coroner’s report from 2016, but the director of public prosecutions declined to press charges.
When he testified at the inquest, Mr. Hunt, who now resides in the state’s north-west under a different name, denied knowing anything about what happened to Ms. Butterworth.
