Madeline Edwards News

On the nearly all-night video shoot for “Mother, Dolly, Jesus,” Madeline Edwards and her girl gang began cheering as they were exhausted. Edwards, a newbie to country music, claimed that the Quinton Cook-directed video shoot was one of her favourite experiences ever.

According to 29-year-old Edwards, “[The cheering squad] would just instantly throw the enthusiasm back into the room, and it was very great.” “Being a part of the video was just so much joy. I believe that when you watch it, you can see that energy. I’m quite pleased with the finished result and how it turned out.”

The song “Mother, Dolly, Jesus” is from Edwards’ self-titled album. Each of the album’s 12 songs, including this lively, sassy, soulful smash that Grammy-nominated Laura Veltz, Jessie Jo Dillon, and Jimmy Robbins all contributed to writing, was co-written by her. The music video contains all of the attitude of the song, highlighted with train dancing and neon lights, and even has a Dolly Parton drag queen. The video’s making-of-footage is being released by PEOPLE.

According to Edwards, “everything about this video was fun.” It was simply a fun, enjoyable experience. The lyrics aren’t all sugary, either. There are “many layers to the message,” according to Edwards. To properly love others, she asserts that one must first learn to love oneself. “The inclusion aspect of it as well. I didn’t want to convey the idea in a too political or direct manner. I merely wanted everyone to watch and remark, “You know, this is really cheerful and good and entertaining,” which is all I intended. That is undoubtedly what the video does.”

Since her career took off in 2021, Edwards has struggled to find a way to fit some fun into her daily grind. She performed with Mickey Guyton and Brittney Spencer at the CMA Awards the previous year, marking her debut in the country music genre. Since then, Edwards has made her Grand Ole Opry debut, been named one of CMT’s Next Ladies of Country, toured with Chris Stapleton, secured a major label record deal with Warner Music Nashville, and released her debut album, Crashlanded.
