Mark Cavendish Career

Cavendish won the gold in the Madison in 2005, his first year competing at the highest level on the track. Three years later, he competed for Great Britain in the 2008 UCI Track Cycling World Championships, alongside Rob Hayles and Bradley Wiggins.

Following his failure to win a medal at the 2008 Summer Olympics, Cavendish withdrew from track competition. He made a comeback in 2015, and the following year in Madison, Wisconsin, he won his third UCI Track Cycling World Championships championship. In addition, he took home a silver medal in the omnium event at the 2016 Summer Olympics.

Despite not ranking among the top 10 cyclists in terms of pay this year, he still earns at least seven figures annually. His yearly compensation was $2.4 million in 2012.

Additionally, Mark Cavendish makes 2,400,000 euros a year, according to Daniel Joseph Larson’s (2016) reference in The Economics of Professional Road Cycling by Daam Van Reeth.
