But by consenting to allow a judge rather than a jury to decide on the misdemeanor accusation without the talk show interviews being taken into account as evidence, Haglin ultimately managed to avoid the more serious charge.
Haglin was fired from her position as a substitute teacher at Washington High School in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and was then detained after turning herself into the police in July.
Later, she claimed on television that her poor relationship with her boyfriend made her vulnerable to the student.
She remarked, “He took advantage of me when I was at my most vulnerable.

On February 17, he will deliver his verdict. She faces a potential two-year prison sentence or a $6,250 fine. Additionally, she must sign up for ten years as a sex offender.
