Mila Davis-Kent News

Mila Davis-Kent has joined the cast of the much awaited Creed III movie. In her portrayal as Amara Creed, the movie’s Adonis Creed’s daughter, Davis-Kent, a deaf actress, serves as a spokesperson for the deaf community.

Michael B. Jordan and the cast of the recently released blockbuster Creed III are holding press conferences all over the world to whet audience members’ appetites for the latest installment in the franchise.

With ASL included, Mila Davis-Kent gives Creed III authenticity

Michael B. Jordan commented about how Davis-Kent’s energy pushed the group to discover something lovely at the Creed III press conference in Atlanta, Georgia. The key concept that both actors hoped the deaf community will take away from the movie is representation.

According to the National Deaf Centre, societal prejudices are the main cause of obstacles for those who have hearing loss. Their daily lives are affected by prejudices like low expectations and regard of the deaf population.

Black deaf individuals can watch this movie and realise that they can be anything, according to Davis-Kent, who said that it proved the opposite. It is inclusive if we are a part of it. We want people who are deaf to watch this film and realise they can achieve it. This film will help others understand that deaf individuals are just like them.

“Mila and her family taught me so much. Every time I look at her, I feel blessed,” Jordan stated with appreciation. Jordan stated that he has a personal connection to this franchise.

Jordan helmed the concluding movie of the trilogy, and compared to the first two films, Creed III reveals a different side of Adonis Creed. He is now the spouse of a Black lady who has hearing loss and the father of a deaf girl who speaks primarily in ASL.

Adonis Creed’s character DéNajah Johnson, a third-year biology pre-med student at Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University, had a similar experience. Like Amara Creed, Johnson grew up with a hard of hearing father, which forced her to incorporate ASL into her daily life. She claimed that this film causes her heart to skip a beat.

“Seeing a Black deaf/hard of hearing person on the big screen makes my heart jump as the child of a deaf adult. It’s one of those times, Johnson added, where I want to shout “Yes!” “Though we still have a long way to go, society is moving in the right direction when it comes to the inclusion of Black deaf/hard of hearing individuals,” she enthusiastically said.

Creed III created history by being the first sports film to gross over $100 million at the box office. Additionally, it has outperformed sales of the recently released film Scream 5.
