Mourad Lamrabatte Career
Mourad Lamrabatte, a Moroccan-Dutch football player who had previously played for the Dutch team SBV Vitesse, unfortunately passed away last week while doing a risky cliff stunt in front of his wife and two children while on vacation in Majorca, Spain.
Lamrabatte’s wife secretly recorded the tragic event in a video clip that showed the 31-year-old conducting a tombstoning stunt from a 30-meter-high cliff with the intention of leaping into the lake. He misjudged the jump, let out a horrifying scream, then crashed into rocks and the sea.
From a boat, Lamrabatte’s wife and children could be seen looking up the cliff from which the deceased Moroccan footballer jumped. The wife can be heard crying “oh my god” just before the video cuts off.
Soon later, when the police came, they were able to locate Lamrabbate’s body. Local media sites claimed that because his wife was still in shock over his death, authorities were unable to question her. According to the results of the autopsy, Lamrabatte drowned as a result of the hit rather than dying from impact injuries.
The Moroccan’s old club, Vitesse, sent its sympathies to his loved ones. The Dutch club posted on Twitter, “Vitesse has received the sad news that Mourad Lamrabatte has passed away.”
Lamrabatte represented Vitesse while playing for the U23 team in the 2010–2011 season, wearing the team’s jersey. The attacker scored with VIOS Vaassen in a first team exhibition game in July 2010,” it said.
Tombstoning, which involves jumping off a high platform into the ocean, is a risky activity that frequently results in fatalities and severe injuries.
