Nadine Arslanian News
According to Friday’s Wall Street Journal, federal prosecutors in Manhattan are looking into whether Nadine Arslanian, the wife of Democratic Sen. Bob Menendez (D-NJ), accepted gifts or services from those who asked her husband for favours.
According to the site, the US Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York has subpoenaed Arslanian’s associates as part of the inquiry and requested information regarding both Menendez and Arslanian.
The investigation is distinct from one that was conducted in 2015 and led to allegations of bribery and corruption against Menendez, 68, which culminated in a mistrial two years later.
According to the Journal, the current investigation began at least in 2019 when federal agents executed search warrants against New Jersey businessman Wael Hana. Hana, an acquaintance of Arslanian, controls the sole organisation authorised to certify meat shipments to Egypt as halal.

According to the Journal, the current investigation began at least in 2019 when federal agents executed search warrants against New Jersey businessman Wael Hana. Hana, an acquaintance of Arslanian, controls the sole organisation authorised to certify meat shipments to Egypt as halal.
According to court records, investigators are apparently looking into conceivable covert foreign lobbying. The Journal quoted Hana’s attorney as saying that his client acquired the halal certification contract with Egypt “without any assistance whatsoever from any US public official.”
Antranig Aslanian, an attorney from New Jersey, has reportedly also been summoned as part of the probe. According to reports, Aslanian and Nadine Arslanian have known each other for a very long time. Aslanian admitted to the Journal that he was unaware of the prosecutors’ objectives.
Prosecutors claim that in the 2015 case against Menendez, the Florida ophthalmologist Dr. Salomon Melgen offered him over $1 million in trips on a private jet, vacations, and other gifts in exchange for helping the doctor get visas for his foreign girlfriends.
Additionally, according to the investigators, Menendez received sizeable political donations in return for assisting Melgen in securing lucrative government contracts. Michael Soliman, a Menendez advisor, told The Post last month that although the senator was “aware of an investigation,” he “does not know the scope.”
As always, the senator is available to offer any assistance that is required of him or his office, according to Soliman, should any official enquiries be made.
