Niamh McGrady News
Actress Niamh McGrady of Hope Street supports a campaign to increase public understanding of those who are homeless since it is a cause close to her heart. In order to highlight the reality that homeless people endure every day, the Macs charity, which works with children and young people aged six to 25, is sponsoring Sleep Out, in which fundraisers spend the night in sleeping bags wrapped with cardboard.
Additionally supporting the event are TikTok phenomenon Jelvis Pelvis, music producer and DJ Phil Kieran, who has developed a “sleep score,” comic Micky Bartlett, who will perform a stand-up show, and comedian Micky Bartlett. Niamh, the mother of 1-year-old Thomas, won’t be present for the entire sleepover but will assist as needed.
“I’m coming along because I can’t leave the baby alone all night, but I’ll definitely be there to lend support,” she said.”I learned about Macs because one of my very close friends works for the organisation. Through her, I became acquainted with its operation.

“It is providing stability and giving them all the support they need to grow their confidence for vulnerable young adults whose lives are insecure. It involves finding them housing and employment — everything a family would do.
Self-esteem is really important. Perhaps some individuals assume that. The goal of [Macs] is to prepare young people for the real world by getting them out into it. On November 24, a charity-organized Sleep Out will take place at the Banana Block in east Belfast. Participants are being urged to give up their beds in support of those who are homeless.
We’re all in a precarious situation, added Niamh, who has starred in the TV dramas Holby City and The Fall in addition to the movie Maze. Statistics showed that many people were only two paychecks away from homelessness even before the cost-of-living crisis and lockout.
Families are currently having to work extremely hard, and the most vulnerable individuals will suffer the most and fall through the cracks the quickest.
“That’s who Macs is there to serve, and since the situation is so precarious, demand for the services that Macs offers is just rising and rising right now. They really do need all the support that they can receive.
