After being selected in the fifth round of the 2016 MLB Draft, Lopez, 28, made his major league debut in 2019. In Kansas City, he started the previous two seasons, alternating between 2B, SS, and 3B. His career-high slash line of.300/.365/.378 came in 2021. He batted just.227 the previous season and has spent the majority of 2023 as a utility player, appearing in just 67 games, accruing fewer than 200 total at-bats, and posting a slash line of.210/.322/.280.
