Pat Lawson News
Pat Lawson Muse, a popular anchor for News4 for more than 40 years, declared retirement on Friday. She discussed her route to and through the News4 station as well as her favourite moments as she was leaving.
I went to college in Las Vegas, Nevada, and I relocated to Washington in 1973, she said. “Furthermore, my move to Washington was a fascinating cultural experience for me. I had never been to the capital of the country “or spent time in a city with a large African American population.
Muse arrived at Howard University with the intention of enrolling in political science and later law school. She became aware that there were other topics she’d prefer to research as she spent more time in the District, which was “just gaining its home rule legs, just about to elect its first mayor.”
She declared, “Broadcast management was my major. “My intention was to focus on business and pursue television’s commercial side.. But some of the students at Howard formed a carrier current radio station called WHBC during my sophomore year, which led into my senior year. WHBC stood for “Howard’s Black communicators.”
She was asked to assist in setting up the station in a caravan behind Howard’s Burr Gymnasium by some other students in her statistics class. After the radio station began, Muse joined an announcers workshop that was organised by the station, which led to her eventually having her own show.
