Praveen Sood Ips Career
In 1989, Praveen Sood began his career as the assistant superintendent of police in Mysore. In Bangalore, he held the position of Deputy Commissioner of Police, Law and Order. He has served as a police advisor to the Mauritiusan government for three years.
In Mysore, he was the police commissioner from 2004 until 2007. In February 2008, he was appointed Additional Commissioner of Police for Traffic in Bangalore, where he remained till September 2011.
He received the President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service in 2011, the Police Medal for Meritorious Service in 2002, and the Chief Minister’s Gold Medal for Excellence in Service in 1996.
In 2006, he was given the Prince Michael International Road Safety Award, and in 2011, he was given the National E-Governance Gold Award. In just nine months after taking over as managing director of the Karnataka State Police Housing Corporation in 2013–2014, the company’s revenue rose from Rs 160 crore to Rs 282 crore.
In addition to serving as the principal secretary for the home department, Praveen also held the positions of additional director general of police for the Karnataka State Reserve Police and additional director general of police for administration.
