Sally Nugent News
Despite the news of her divorce, Sally Nugent made a Monday comeback to BBC Breakfast. Two days after it was revealed that the 51-year-old presenter and her 52-year-old husband Gavin Hawthorn had split after 13 years of marriage, the couple joined their co-host Jon Kay on the red sofa.
The journalist’s first TV appearance after the announcement was notable for the fact that she was not wearing her wedding band when she broadcast live from the BBC studios.
The couple, who have a teenage son, allegedly split up over the weekend because their lives “moved in different directions”.
“I believe that they attempted to stick it out for quite a while since they didn’t want to end their marriage for the sake of their son if they could avoid it, but they were obviously unable to do so.
It’s been obvious for some time that they had been, but now it’s obvious that they hadn’t been able to address it despite obviously trying for some time. They have both been very careful about the reasons behind their growing apart.
The publication also claimed that Hawthorn, a former top Pets at house marketing officer, had left their Greater Manchester house worth £1.3 million.
After a productive tenure covering key sporting events for the broadcaster, including football World Cups, Nugent succeeded Louise Minchin in late 2021.
She expressed her excitement at the time about the position when she accepted it, saying, “I’m incredibly excited to become the next presenter of BBC Breakfast and deliver the nation the latest news, top entertainment guests, and stories that matter every week. It’s an honour to succeed Louise as host of the most viewed breakfast programme in the UK.
