According to his widow, Sebastian Eubank passed away following a “massive heart attack” that was caused by a pre-existing cardiac disease that his family was not aware of. A month after becoming a father, the son of former middleweight boxing champion Chris Eubank passed away on Friday.
Salma Abdelati, his widow, said that the 29-year-old suffered a heart attack while swimming in the sea in Dubai. She expressed her gratitude for “the few brief and happy weeks he was able to spend with his son before his death.” Sebastian, who had grown up to be a professional boxer like his father, would have turned 30 on July 18.
Sebastian Eubank’s wife issued the following statement in a statement: “Dubai Police and the coroner have verified that after a comprehensive post-mortem Sebastian Eubank unfortunately died from a huge heart attack whilst in the sea and probably could not have been saved even if out of the water. There was proof of an undiagnosed pre-existing heart problem.
Sebastian died after enjoying one of his favourite meals with one of his closest friends while engaging in one of his favourite activities at his favourite location in Dubai, where he frequently went swimming. While this is still incredibly terrible, it offers some solace. At Cove Beach in Dubai, he was watching the sunset while standing in the ocean not far from the coast.
I’m thankful that he had a few brief, joyful weeks with his son before passing away. Following the passing of Sebastian, the middle child of Eubank’s five children, individuals from the boxing community and beyond paid tribute to him.
In a previous homage to him, his father described his son as a “deep thinker who liked to challenge accepted wisdom.” Sebastian, who was born in Hove but had been living in Dubai, was “a leader in the adoption of a healthy lifestyle and of alternative therapies,” according to Eubank. The family was crushed by his passing.
“He was loved and respected by all who knew him, and will be forever in the thoughts of friends and family,” he continued. Sebastian, who battled under the name Alka Lion, faced Polish opponent Kamil Kulczyk in his professional debut in February 2018.
