Shirleen Allicot News
According to sources speaking exclusively to Page Six, local New York anchor Ken Rosato was fired from ABC 7 for allegedly calling his co-anchor Shirleen Allicot a four-letter word.
According to a source, the veteran local ‘Eyewitness News This Morning’ anchor was ‘immediately dismissed’ after ‘he called her a c-t’ over a hot mic.
We were informed that Rosato allegedly said the statement while off the air, but insiders had previously said that his remark was heard “on an open mic” and that he was “immediately let go.” When we contacted an ABC representative on Sunday, they gave us a “no comment” response.
His representative had promptly dispelled a rumour from an insider that the anchor had been overheard on an open mic using racial slurs.
Being fired for using a racist slur is completely false and wrong. The representative informed us on Friday that Ken Rosato had a benchmark of 20 years at WABC of promoting all equality.
When brass at WABC7 informed other reporters and anchors that Rosato would not be returning to the anchor desk, they allegedly refused to mention his nasty statement. Together with Sam Champion, Heather O’Rourke, and Allicot, Rosato served as the morning news program’s anchor.
He began working for the station in 2003 as a freelance reporter before being elevated to morning and midday anchor.
Rosato “is no longer with WABC,” the general manager wrote in an email to staff members on Friday. The station hasn’t yet made the news of his departure public. “We thank him for his years of service,” they said in their letter.
Additionally, Rosato’s biography and a September 2020 profile on him were taken down from the station’s website last week. On May 2, he sent his final tweet from the anchor desk.
