Tab Hunter News

With the release of The Lawless in 1950, Hunter launched his acting career. Macdonald Carey and Gail Russell star in Joseph Losey’s American noir movie The Lawless. Despite having a small role, one of Hunter’s films, The Sea Chase, was a major blockbuster.

Tab’s career was at its height. In 1958, William Wellman employed him once more in the military movie Lafayette Escadrille. Hunter was lent to Columbia Pictures the following year for the Western Gunman’s Walk, which he thought was his favourite role. The actor had a starring role as Debbie Reynolds’ love interest in The Pleasure of His Company after failing to get the part of Tony in the 1961 film production of West Side Story.

Tab played the lead in Curtis Hanson’s first film, Sweet Kill, in the early 1970s. Hunter’s career was revitalised in the 1980s when he co-starred in Paul Bartel’s Lust in the Dust and John Waters’ Polyester with actress Divine.

The actor starred in Tab Hunter Confidential in 2015. About Hunter’s career as a matinee idol, this film is a documentary. When “Young Love” was released in 1957, it became one of the bigger songs of the Rock n Roll era and spent six weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

“Ninety-Nine Ways,” another popular song by Hunter, reached its peak at No. 11 in the United States and No. 5 in the United Kingdom. The California Independent Film Festival gave Tab Hunter the Lifetime Achievement Award, which he earned. He was put forth for the Belles Lettres Lambda Literary Award.
