Todd Piro News

The apparent split personality of ox News, which is a nicer word than “hypocrisy,” goes beyond the disparity between its straight-news anchors who frequently refer to Joe Biden as “the president-elect,” and the prime-time and other opinion hosts who champion Donald Trump’s unfounded claims of a stolen election.

According to employees of the top-rated, right-leaning cable outlet, the case of Fox & Friends First co-anchor Todd Piro, who recently tested positive for COVID-19, highlights a potentially dangerous discrepancy between the network’s stated safety policies and the allegedly careless way that management is carrying them out.

After Piro stopped showing up for work at the network’s Midtown Manhattan studios as of Nov. 9, current Fox News employees, who asked not to be further identified for fear of retaliation, told The Daily Beast that they received no official alert or explanation, while his co-anchor, Jillian Mele, has continued to host the early morning broadcast close to members of the production staff.

A staff member noted that Piro’s diagnosis was so serious that he was unable to attend the birth of his daughter this past weekend for fear of infecting his new child, McKenna; his second wife, local Connecticut television anchor Amanda Raus; and members of the medical staff. “They’re definitely getting lax about COVID,” the staff member said. “Due to [privacy concerns over] health data, they haven’t been naming names. Our safety is not as crucial in this location as it is to the anchors who control the programme.

“They’re doing the bare minimum with regard to COVID to avoid being sued,” the staff member continued. Everyone praises Piro for his optimistic outlook. Some are perplexed as to why his co-anchor is still permitted access to the structure.

One employee noted that Mele reportedly underwent a negative test a few days after Piro was diagnosed, but noted that “nobody seems to care about the incubation period. The business also believes that a total cumulative exposure time of less than 15 minutes is acceptable. Since it’s so simple for these people to just conduct their shows from home, employees are more fearful of not doing enough to prevent being exposed.

The business never formally warned staff members about their potential exposure to sick and potentially infected coworkers, even without mentioning names to respect Piro and Mele’s privacy, they claimed.
