Whitney Wild Career

Journalist Wild provides live reports and digital content for the 1,000+ local news partners of CNN Newsource. She was an investigative reporter for WUSA 9 in Washington, D.C. before joining CNN Newsource. She received a National Capital Chesapeake Bay Chapter Emmy Award for her reporting on discriminatory property advertising and rental practices that affected owners of government-subsidised housing vouchers. As a result of her investigation, politicians in the nation’s capital stepped up their efforts to end discrimination in housing based on income.

In her former position, Wild broke numerous scoops while working as a reporter and anchor for 9NEWS in Denver. For her reporting on the anniversary and accidental encounter of two survivors of an aircraft crash during Operation Babylift, President Gerald Ford’s 1975 scheme to rescue thousands of children from war-torn Vietnam, she also received a Heartland Chapter Emmy Award.

At WJLA/NewsChannel 8 in Washington, D.C., where Wild started her career as a multimedia journalist, her work resulted in the capture of a child sex offender.

Wild graduated from the University of Michigan with a Bachelor of Arts in comparative literature. She earned a Master of Science in Journalism from Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism.
